The Microchemistry and Microscopy Art Diagnostic Laboratory of the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician” of University of Bologna – Ravenna Campus has a strong experience in the field of chemistry applied to cultural heritage (development of advanced non-invasive and micro-destructive spectroscopic techniques and design of innovative materials for restoration) and of multivariate methods for data evaluation.
UNIBO will be in charge of the analyses of bronze mock-ups by means of advanced spectroscopic techniques: micro-FTIR, micro-Raman and hyperspectral imaging for the characterisation of the metal/patina, patina/treatment and treatment/marine environment interfaces.
Chemometric strategies will be developed and applied on data acquired in the frame of the project, on exposed and treated bronze mock-ups.
UNIBO will lead the following two Work-packages of the MEDUSA project: WP2 and WP6
and will benefit from the cooperation of all the other research partners.
